Wedding Sweets!

We completed the last (major) piece of our wedding puzzle! Our cake/sweets contract is signed and let me tell you, I could not be more excited!

Bleeding Heart Bakery (also on Facebook here) is doing our cake/cupcakes and cakeballs. Yes, you read right, we’re doing all three! Why? Why NOT?! We’re getting a two-tiered cake with a 3D fondant component, 200 mini cupcakes and 150 cakeballs! Sorry I can’t tell you too much about the cake, it’s a surprise for our guests and even our mothers!

This awesome little bakery is not your Momma’s bakery! One article described it as, “The certified-organic bakery is where Marilyn Manson might pick up cupcakes.” I don’t know if I would quite go that far but they are definitely known for the unknown, or maybe un-thought of! According to BHB’s website, “The idea behind BHB was to use local, organic and sustainable ingredients to provide amazing and thought provoking pastry that was as delicious as it was beautiful and cutting edge.” I believe they have every right to say mission accomplished!

So, I have to tell my funny little story about BHB. My mother is not someone who goes nuts over desserts. She loves her chocolate, but usually a small piece of good dark chocolate and she’s happy as a clam. The first time we ever went to BHB it was my mom, my niece and I. We bought a variety of items to take home and try. We got home and we were cutting up the various cupcakes so we each got a bite or two…at the end of this process there was a bit of a Veruca Salt cupcake left, we all eye the cupcake, eye each other, eye the cupcake and then I’m pretty sure had I not moved my mother would have taken my head off to get to the cupcake!! It was the funniest thing in the world, but that’s really just how good these cupcakes are!

The best part about doing our wedding with them? We can come up with any flavor combination we can dream of! Since we’ll be in June berries will be in season, chocolate is always in season and we can dream big! Bananas foster? No prob!! Bacon chocolate? Sounds good! Blueberry Basil? May have to give that one a whirl! I am super pumped!! And I was assured that all we have to do is declare our favorites and they will make a special little box just for my fiancee and I to ensure we get our must-haves! I will keep you updated on the flavors we choose and the final cake design after the wedding!!

Impatience

Can I please tell you how impatient I am?? I know it’s not yet time to order our cake or have the food tasting but I WANNA!!!!!!!!!

First of all, what better excuse to go to Bleeding Heart Bakery and sample their goodies! And, oh, while I’m down there, I should probably take some home! Plus I am so excited about our cake design!! Sorry, I can’t tell you, but it’s pretty awesome! I know the best bakers to pull it off are the guys at Bleeding Heart, I mean look at their stuff! Pretty much amazing! Dying to go down there and share our idea, taste the yumminess and check one more thing off the list…well, I might have to go in for a second tasting, I mean, it is my wedding cake, have to make sure it’s perfect!!!

Second, I really want to do our tasting over at the Deerpath Inn. Mind you, I have eaten there, amazing. But fiancee has not! Oh my goodness is he in for a treat! The food there is amazing! So, yes, I’m excited for a meal there, and to cross another thing off the list! BTW- big shout out to Mary Ellen Powers over at the DPI because she’s been great at telling me when it’s time to do things, and what can be allowed if we want (Dad’s dog…), so thanks! I know the craziness has just begun, but I’m sure I won’t be your worst bride!
