Weight Loss, So What?

So, this is probably just my cynicism, I know, me cynical? Never!! But, so far I’ve lost just over 12 pounds and part of me feels like, yeah, so what?

Personally, I look in the mirror and don’t see a huge difference. I’m not saying I don’t notice any difference, I guess I just thought it would be more…profound. No, I don’t have body dysmorphic disorder or whatever it is and I’m certainly not calling myself fat (although that chocolate cake yesterday didn’t help…) but I still see the problem areas.

I still see the tummy pudge and the arm flaps. They probably aren’t as bad as they once were, but they still exist. It is all just a little discoraging. I don’t want to stop, I want to look good in a bikini, and on my wedding day, and in general be healthier, but geez, can’t a girl get a break!

Maybe I need to try on some new clothes, but that could easily cut both ways. Maybe I need to try on some of my clothes that I just don’t wear very often.

I guess we, as a society, often put so much emphasis on being skinny or as we now call it, healthy. We see models all the time, celebrity’s, yadda yadda yadda, you know the story. When someone, oh, I don’t know, like me, does make those changes in their life, there’s almost an expectation of some great coolness or something that should happen because I’ve bought into society. I should be riding a horse in my underwear like those Victoria’s Secret models. Honestly, what difference is there in my everyday life since I’ve lost a few pounds? I’m not going to walk around in mini shorts like the models in the EasyTone commercials! I’m still the same person on the inside. I still think, breathe, and act the same as I did before.

I did notice last night that I might be officially down to one chin. That’s a good thing right? Haha! I did try on a black dress that I don’t think I would have before, but I still didn’t buy it! I guess with all the weight society places (pun intended!) on body image and weight I expected to feel more somehow!
