High School Pants

I fell like we all have the one pair of pants or maybe it’s a shirt that we hold on to in hopes of one day fitting back into it…for me it has been a pair of khaki pants that I have held onto since high school. I don’t know why I haven’t let go of these pants. I don’t know what the attraction is- I probably bought them for like $20 somewhere random…they just always made me feel good and sexy and skinny in high school so I haven’t let go.

For the record the scale still has not moved (well, I haven’t checked in a week or two) but I’ve lost inches!! I know I’ve talked about this before, but I really do think it is important to remind ourselves there is more than one way to be fitter, skinnier, and most importantly healthier!

As a quick review of my plan (my totally by accident plan by the way…) here goes:

  • No pop
  • No fast food (anything with a drive thru)
  • Water (although I can’t say I’m too good at this one…)
  • Breakfast (for me it’s usually some dry cereal with water or juice)
  • Krav Maga twice a week for 3-4 hours (total)
  • Pole twice a week for 3-5 hours (total)
  • A few extra classes when I’m in the mood

Woo Woo!! Guess it’s finally paying off! I will look hot in my bikini on my honeymoon and now I just need to maintain everything until my friend’s wedding next summer (gotta look hot there too!!)

Putting the pieces together- Escort Cards and Favors

Hey world’s longest title for a post, but it’s cool, y’all get it.

Sooooooo, remember I made those envelopey favor holder/escort card holders (these)? Annnd remember I made the plantable bookmarks for my wedding favors (these)? And then I made escort cards which were so hard to do (these)?? Well I finally started to put all the pieces together and here are the final results!

These will hang from the amazing “trees” my fiance and I made and look like leafs! People will have to probably take an extra second to find their name, although we will do our best to have them hang in alpha order, but they can just admire the beauty…and our hard work!!

My pile of bookmarks and labels (so people can find their envelopes) and my mess of a couch. One day all these bookmarks and labels will be gone and one day my couch will be clean…like I said, one day…and my envelopes as they become a final product! Yay!

RSVPs

Respondez S’il Vous Plait” = please respond or respond please = yes, I need to know if you are coming or not!

I’ve planned lots of parties for myself, my friends and work. They’ve ranged from super informal to black tie galas. The one thing I will never understand is the lack of responses when you ask people to RSVP. Whether it’s a phone call, an e-mail or mailing back a pre-stamped postcard, I don’t understand the difficulty.

I know this is something every bride and event coordinator struggles with, so with that being said, I don’t think I’ll ever understand the lack, or procrastination of RSVPing. I mean, these responses aren’t just for my benefit, I need to know what meal you want so I can tell the caterer, I need to know if your coming so I can get a chair for your butt and put you at a table. I need to have the correct number of tables and centerpieces and favors!!

Some brides have gotten creative- the first 5 RSVPs get a prize or the last to RSVP gets called out at the wedding (although I hope this is only a threat).

You should always respond to an invitation. It is polite. It is kind. Most of all it is necessary! Here are a few tips just in case!

  • When in doubt, RSVP, never assume a host knows you are coming.
  • If the invitations says “Regrets only” then you only need to respond if you will not be attending.
  • Pay attention to the deadline, we already went over this, but hosts set them for a reason!
  • If you RSVP “yes” then show up.

DIY- Escort Cards

If you remember I made these escort card/favor holders awhile ago for the wedding. Now, you can buy escort cards that just need to be filled out anywhere but I wanted cards that would a. fit into these envelopey things and b. be a bit more unique so this is what I came up with! And let me tell you, there were so hard to make!! Please note the sarcasm…

Items used:

  • Square “R” cards from Paper Source
  • Clear labels
  • Scissors

Ok, here’s the hard part, print the labels for whatever table names/numbers your doing, put the labels on the back of the card and trim the label!

My Flower Girl Dress

Do y’all know how close my wedding is getting? It’s freaking me out!!

Regardless, there is still lots to be done and this week we, ok, my soon-to-be mother-in-law is going to start making my beautiful flower girl’s dress! Honestly, I knew what I wanted my flower girl’s dress to look like and I didn’t want to worry about having to find it in a store or settle for something close. Lucky for me my soon-to-be mother-in-law has some mad sewing skills (very unlike me!!)

Last night we all met up at my soon-to-be mother-in-law’s (geez that’s a lot to type over and over again…) home so we could measure my little flower girl. First can I tell you what a a little peanut she is! She walked in, mind you she’s 2 and a half, and starts telling me she’s going to get pretty flower and her hair done and her make up done! I love the diva demands!! Then we measure her which she just thinks is hilarious! And then show her the fabics and tell her which one is going to be her skirt:

her top:

And we attempted to explain the tulle will go under the skirt to make it poofy (but not too poofy)

The best part of the whole process? When my fiance walked in and she attempted to “dress” him up like her dress!! So cute! I can’t wait to share the final project with you all!

A little hope

Y’all know, much like many of us, I am struggling with weight loss, being at a healthy weight and, of course, looking great in my wedding dress!

Yesterday afternoon I had, what was supposed to be, my last dress fitting -my bustle was done, we just had to learn how to use it, the seamstress had a few minor things to ensure and finalize and then I could pick it. Well, apparently, that is not the case, and I couldn’t be happier!

I put my dress and my shoes on and walked out to the main fitting area “to be worked on” and my mom was tugging on the dress and tweaking things and then the seamstress comes out. And let me just say, I love her, she is stereotypical, straight off the boat eastern European. Incredibly nice but incredibly firm (just ask my friend who had to learn how to do the bustle!!). But both her and my mother launch into a discussion about how the dress will need to be taken in (again) and that I need an appointment closer to the wedding so that they can get it as close as possible and blah blah blah! I think I must have been smiling from ear-to-ear!

The hard work is starting to pay off! It’s starting to show! Ha!! I really think I did a little happy dance!

Bottom line, what this taught me, or reminded me, is that there is more than one way to track and define results. My scale hasn’t moved in months, or if it has it’s gone up slightly, but I’m still losing inches. Results, like us, come in many shapes and forms and we need to be thinking about all of them!

Aside

I’m sorry that I was absent last week my friends. My best friend’s girlfriend killed herself so I took so much needed time to spend with him and just in general be there for him.

Always remember, tomorrow is a gift.
